The Suzani Centre was set up in 2004 with the help of the British Council and Operation Mercy (an offshoot of UNESCO) to bring back the lost art of embroidery. Situated just around the corner from the Carpet workshop, the work is executed with the same emotion to authentic old practice – the hand-dyed and spun silks and traditional motifs are made up into cushions, bags and other small items – more affordable than the carpets for those who wish to support the project but whose budgets are tighter.
