"Aiesha" - A small oriental costume & textile workshop in Samarkand
In the workshop "Aiesha" travelers have the opportunity to witness all the stages of natural silk production. You can also see a folklore show and do somewonderful shopping in Samarkand.
Paper workshop
Today the famous Samarkand paper is again made in the traditional way at a specially built traditional paper mill with a working wafer-wheel on the banks of the river Siab in the 'Konigil Meros' village on the outskirts of Samarkand (ten kilometers away from the centre of Samarkand, on the road leading to Bukhara), where it is possible by prior appointment to try making your own paper.
Siyob bazaar
Like any other oriental city, Samarkand has also its famous, unique and amazing bazaar, knows as Siyab Bazaar. This historic site is located between the mosque of Bibi Khanum complex and Shokhi Zinda, a 10 minutes walk from the Registan Square. This is the best place to meet locals and share a little bit of their life. People still wears old fashion clothes such as turban or uzbek hat. It is an excellent spot for photographers. You could find delicious watermelons, rainbow’s colored spices and all the kind of tasty vegetables.
